Nail City Record Presents: The Elephant Awakens.
Featuring local singer/songwriters Matt Heusel, Michael Iafrate, Adrian Niles, and Joe Zelek.
(A promo for the upcoming show Quiet the Horses: An Evening of Story and Song)
Join us on the third floor of the McLain Building for our first performance event in our new downtown location.
The Elephant Awakens will be a Q&A series and acoustic set with local musicians. Here we will be exploring the musical inspirations and style origins behind some of the most talented, local, singer/song writers and their songs. Hear the songs that influenced Huesel, Iafrate, Niles and Zelek and the stories behind them.
NEXT DATE: OCTOBER 27TH!
The concept is easy: Gather up a stack of the records that you are willing to trade (Please no junk, we want to see quality). Bring them down to the shop, and you will find a group of like minded individuals who also have records to trade!
No records to trade and/or new to the scene? No worries! Come say hello and tell us what kind of music you like.
All music styles, types, and genres are welcomed!
This event will take place on the last Saturday of every month this fall. Save the date so this can become part of your monthly routine!
Monday, October 29 at 8 PM
Start your Halloween a little bit early this year! Beginning at 8pm on October 29th, Nail City Record will be hosting Pocket Vinyl and Weird Lightning in the listening lounge at our new down town Wheeling location. Entry is free but we do suggest a $5 donation or purchase of the bands' merchandise!
Don't forget to dress up! Top 3 best musician look-a-like win prizes.
Weird Lighting is possibly best described as two people (BD & JB) from Wheeling, WV who make blorpy-teenage angst music for adults.
Pocket Vinyl is a duo from New London, CT consisting of a one man piano slammer and an on stage painter, who creates a beautiful and unique work of art at every show. The painting is then auctioned off to the highest bidder at the end of the night. Every painting and show is one of a kind.
Their new album "Uncomfortably Unsure" is a very good record filled with non-sexy songs about sex. You can see a great painting video of their first single right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn5gc1WkoPE
If you'd like to see Pocket Vinyl as puppets, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0VTkNWXzoM
If you'd like to see choreographed dancing, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQL1A8dcKKI
Or you can see a whole bunch more stuff at www.pocketvinyl.com
You will not want to miss this. Please come, bring friends, and have a great evening of musical questions and existentialism.
Tuesday, October 30th, at 6pm!
You're invited to an evening with Chad R. of Lunaris Records, an independent record label out of Pittsburgh specializing in horror and cult film soundtracks.
Chad will be offering anecdotes about the business of horror soundtracks as well as spinning some of his favorite soundtracks and other weirdness from around the world.
Attendees will have a chance to win soundtracks courtesy of Lunaris Records.
Wednesday, October 31st, 7pm-?
Movies and chill @ the record store (Halloween edition).
Bring a blanket or a bean bag chair, a snack and/or a beverage and be ready to get spooked. Hundreds of classic horror titles to choose from and two rooms showing different films! Come dressed in a costume, pajamas, or regular attire— what ever helps you unwind on a Wednesday.
