In Memory Of Michael McNeil
In Memory Of Michael (Mike) McNeil, September 14, 1965 - May 4, 2023
Became a regular customer and friend from the day our doors opened (he actually called the store the day he read about it in the paper, before we even opened).
First in line to dig through every new collection or order we brought in - he always made sure to get first dibs. His motto was “Don’t sleep on Nail City”
Passionate about records and loved our store deeply - the store became his second home.
Attended almost every event we held and helped out during Record Store Day.
Always shared our posts on social media and told anyone he could (whether they listened or not!) about our shop.
Connected with customers, finding common musical ground and making friends through music.
Brought candy for the free candy bowl, always looking out for others.
Known for his great taste in music and his willingness to learn from others, always eager to chat about records.
Favorite quotes:
"Carpe Diem, Bipeds."
Mike loved (in no particular order): “Weird Italian Movie Soundtracks”, Soundtracks, Moog, Exotica, Ambient, Black Sabbath, Jazz, Jazz Sabbath, Kate Bush, Nina Hagen, Ennio Morricone, Angelo Badalamenti, Bryan Eno, David Byrne, anything released in 1977, Classic Punk, Beastie Boys, 80s New Wave, Cool Colored Records, Records with Weird Covers, Records with REALLY WEIRD Covers, Cal Tjader, Vince Guaraldi, Les Baxter, Krautrock, Blade Runner Soundtrack, Neu!, King Gizzard, Kraftwerk, CAN, Khruangbin, Thievery Corporation, Funkadelic, The Budos Band, Thrifting, Photography, Decoupage, Painting, The Ramones, Fugazi, Goblin, Jazz Dispensary series, Sonic Youth, David Bowie, The Residents...
