Ween - 12 Golden Country Greats: Deluxe Edition (3CD)

Ween's beloved country music detour turns 30, and Rhino are celebrating in style with a remastered expanded edition that more than doubles the original album's content. To make 12 Golden Country Greats, Dean and Gene Ween traded their Tascam four-track cassette recorders for the professional polish of Bradley's Barn near Nashville, recruiting elite session musicians including The Jordanaires, who had previously backed Elvis Presley, alongside pianist Hargus "Pig" Robbins and fiddler Buddy Spicher.

This 36-song deluxe edition adds more than 20 unreleased demos and outtakes from the Nashville sessions, including two tracks cut from the original album: the Jerry Garcia tribute So Long, Jerry and I've Got No Darkside, whose inclusion finally delivers on the "12 golden" tracks promised by the title.

Formed in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1984 by childhood friends Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, Ween built a devoted cult following through their wildly eclectic genre-blending approach, drawing from country, funk, punk, soul, and psychedelic rock in equal measure.
